The world of Jessica Xavier

Jessica Xavier is a fashion designer, pattern cutter and costume maker working across couture, fashion and theatre.

Her practice is rooted in the physical process of making, with a particular focus on pattern cutting, garment construction and the relationship between clothing and the body. She works across draping, tailoring, sewing and hand finishing, combining technical precision with an experimental approach to silhouette, structure and materials.

Jessica's professional experience spans costume and fashion for theatre, film and live performance, including work with the Royal Ballet and Opera, the National Theatre and Wicked (film’s 1&2), alongside work in couture and bespoke fashion.

Alongside her professional practice, Jessica develops independent garments and textile projects, using her own designs to explore construction, form and craftsmanship. Her work is particularly concerned with the transformation of two-dimensional pattern into three-dimensional form, and with the detail and discipline of making by hand.

She is based in London and continues to work across freelance costume, pattern cutting, bespoke fashion and independent design.
